General fitness education

Averio Fitness programs are general fitness education for healthy adults. They are not medical advice, a diagnosis, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, dietetics or a personalised exercise prescription. They are written for a general audience and cannot take your individual health, history or circumstances into account. Nobody at Averio Fitness examines you, reviews your training or gives you individual advice.

See a doctor before you start if

  • you have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or have ever been told to exercise only under medical supervision;
  • you feel chest pain, at rest or during activity, or you lose your balance, feel dizzy or have fainted;
  • you have diabetes, asthma, epilepsy or another chronic condition, or take medication that affects your heart rate, blood pressure or balance;
  • you have a bone, joint, muscle or back problem, a recent injury, or have had surgery in the last six months;
  • you are pregnant or have given birth in the last year;
  • you have not exercised for a long time and are over 45, or you are unsure for any reason.

Every program begins with a readiness check based on these points. A recognised screening questionnaire such as the PAR-Q+ is a good way to decide whether you need medical clearance.

While you train

  • Warm up before every session and start with loads and intensities well within your ability.
  • Learn the technique of an exercise before you add weight or speed.
  • Muscle effort and mild soreness a day or two later are normal. Sharp pain, joint pain or pain that spreads is not.
  • Stop immediately and seek medical help if you feel chest pain or pressure, severe breathlessness, dizziness, nausea, palpitations or unusual pain.
  • Use equipment in good condition, on a stable surface, with enough space around you. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for any equipment you use.
  • High-intensity intervals place real demands on the heart. Build your base first, as the HIIT program explains, and skip them if you have any of the conditions listed above until a doctor has cleared you.

Nutrition

The fat loss and muscle building programs give general education about energy balance, protein and eating habits. They are not a diet prescription or nutritional therapy. They are not suitable, without professional supervision, for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, has diabetes, kidney disease or another medical condition, or has or has had an eating disorder. If that applies to you, work with a doctor or a registered dietitian. Supplements are mentioned only as optional and are never necessary.

BMI calculator

Body mass index is a rough screening number for adults. It does not measure body fat, muscle or health and can be misleading for athletes, older adults and some ethnic groups. It is not a diagnosis.

No promised results

We do not promise any amount of weight loss, muscle gain, strength or fitness. Results depend on your starting point, health, consistency, nutrition, sleep and many other factors.

Your responsibility

You choose whether to follow a program, which exercises to do and how hard to train. You are responsible for getting medical clearance where appropriate and for training safely. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for injury, loss or damage resulting from the way you use the material. Nothing in this notice limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or consumer rights under articles 12 to 27 of the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code.
